About the Event

During this class, you will learn how to properly fit your helmet, do an ABC Quick Check, learn basic bike handling skills, lane positioning and signaling, and your responsibilities and etiquette of cycling on the streets.

Requirements for All Participants 

  • Must be able to ride a bicycle for at least one mile
  • Bring a bike in good working condition
  • Bring a properly fitting bicycle helmet.  Free new helmets will be given to all who need one.
  • Sign the NHCAT waiver
  • Bring a bottle of water, light snacks or fruit, and sunblock
  • Bring a face mask in case you are asked to wear one while indoors

*Requirements for Minors 14-17

Minors from 14 to 17 are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian for the duration of each class, including any group ride.  Parents/guardians must sign a waiver for the minor(s).

Details: 

This class will be held at Authentic Beauty Salon and Spa in Westville. This class is for women who know how to ride a bike but may be hesitant to ride in the streets. Instruction will include proper helmet fit, ABC Quick Check, responsibilities and etiquette of cycling on the streets, basic bike handling skills, lane positioning, and signaling.  There will be a group ride on quiet streets in Westville and in Edgewood Park to practice skills learned in class. Located at 902 Whalley Avenue, Authentic Beauty Salon and Spa offers a welcoming and supportive atmosphere to help women develop their knowledge, expertise, and ability to use a bicycle safely and confidently for utility, health, and recreation.  You will leave with an appreciation that biking and beauty go together.
