About the Event

During this class, you will learn how to ride a bike!

Requirements for All Participants

  • Bring a properly fitting bicycle helmet.  Free new helmets will be given to all who need one.
  • Sign the NHCAT waiver
  • Bring a bottle of water, light snacks or fruit, and sunblock
  • Bring a face mask in case you are asked to wear one while indoors

Details:

This class is ideal for adults and mature teens who do not know how to ride a bicycle and want to learn. NHCAT provides the bicycles and all participants who need one will receive a new-free bike helmet. With the pedals of the bike removed and the seat lowered, you will learn to balance on a bike without fear of falling because you can easily stop by putting your feet on ground. Once you learn to balance on the bike, the pedals will be re-installed and off you go! This class covers helmet fit, balancing on a bicycle, pedaling, starting, stopping, and steering. Classes are usually 60 to 90 minutes and most people learn to ride in one session. If not, you and the instructor will arrange another session.  Classes are usually private but never more than 3 people. To schedule a date and time for your class, please send an e-mail to info@nhcat.org. You will meet your instructor in the parking lot of City Climb Gym at 342 Science Park in New Haven hidden behind the Farmington Heritage Canal Trail via Argyle Street which is off Winchester Avenue. (Finding the location is harder than learning to ride!)
